Dido's "Safe Trip Home"

I have been a little lazy in updating this blog.
I just posted this Dido interview with no explanations whatsoever.
Yes I’m a big fan of Dido,  and she has a new record that came out in November: “Safe Trip Home”.

And off course it already is part of my CD collection.

The reviews about have been mixed (more good then bad), as has been mixed people reaction to it.

It’s not as commercial as “No Angel” or “Life for rent” were, but it still a Great record.
I think it’s one of those records that you immediately like it, or it will end up conquering you with time.
I think this has become the most personal record Dido has ever made, for several reasons:
- First because it was created during a difficult period of Dido life: her father was sick for several years and dyed in 2006;
- Maybe because of that, she devoted more of her time to family and friends.
- Plus, Dido basically got into all the phases of the making of the record. She learned about production, learned to play the drums and improved her guitar and piano skills. She frequented some classes at UCLA as well.

It was a five year wait, but I think it was worth.
I advice you to give a listen…or more into her new record. ;)

Rita Redshoes

This Blog maybe starting to look a little nationalist, but it isn’t. It’s just a coincidence of things, that basically happened at the same time, but that were posted in different periods.
Like I said before, sometimes we don’t give much credit to what we have, as a nation.
Rita Redshoes was another surprise that I had. Occasionally, I heard her song on the radio: “The Beginning Song”; not knowing she was Portuguese (well, she sings in English and her name can lead to a misunderstood ;) ). The song is great and so it seems to be the rest of her album “Golden Era”. I suggest you gave it a listen and visit her page at myspace.

Portugal - more than you imagine

I found this marketing campaign of ICEP (a Business Development Agency) just by chance.
Sometimes we have such a dull and mediocre image of ourselves (Portugal in this case) as a country, forgetting that we’ve been having great things to be proud and it’s not because we are a small and poor country that we can’t accomplish great things.
This is an international marketing campaign, but it should have been a National one as well. Lots of Portuguese have no idea of some of the facts revealed on this advertising.
